Animal Caregiver | Indraloka Animal Sanctuary

ANIMAL CAREGIVER (part-time)

** Vet Tech experience (or similar educational/professional
animal care related field experience) is PREFERRED, but we will train any
candidate seriously interested in Indraloka’s nonprofit mission.

The Animal Caregiver reports to the Animal Care Manager & Veterinarian and is responsible for all aspects of daily animal care, including:

  • Lovingly providing food and water for our sanctuary farm animals
  • Meticulously cleaning barn and stalls
  • Implementing veterinary care treatment plans in accordance with directions
  • Participating in hoof trimming, sheep shearing, equine dentistry, and similar appointments
  • Taking animals to veterinary appointments
  • Running errands to to pick up food, produce, and supplies
  • Helping to maintain buildings and fences (assisting on occasion)
  • Helping to maintain grounds and pastures (assisting on occasion)
  • Training and working with volunteers
  • Leading tours and helping with events and fundraising activities and efforts
  • Advocating for a plant-based lifestyle
  • Assisting in maintaining records for each individual animal as well as daily records
  • Regularly contributing content for the website and posting on social media

This is a dirty job involving physical labor, and daily exposure to common allergens. It is also intense, emotionally challenging work. Shifts are typically scheduled between 7am and 5pm, and may include weekends & holidays, as needed to care for the animals.

Additionally, the candidate must have a valid driver’s license, pass criminal history, child abuse, and FBI clearances.

Able to work in an environment with exposure to common allergens including nuts, soy, seeds, as well as bees, wasps, and other insects.

JOB TYPE: PART-TIME

pAY: $12.00 – $15.00 PER HOUR

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week.

Shifts are generally scheduled from 7AM-12PM or 12PM-6PM, but we can accommodate some flexibility.
