When Justice’s body could no longer keep up with the relentless demands of the dairy industry, her fate was sealed. Her milk had nourished countless others, but when her own body began to fail, she was deemed “spent.” No longer useful for breeding or milk production, her life was to end as so many do — on a slaughter truck, headed toward silence and darkness.
But fate, and compassion, intervened.
A dear friend of Indraloka learned of Justice’s situation and refused to let her story end that way. They pleaded with the farmer to give her a chance — to let her know peace and kindness for the first time. Miraculously, the farmer agreed.
Instead of being loaded for slaughter, Justice was loaded into a trailer bound for a sanctuary.
When she arrived at Indraloka, her body told the story of years of use and neglect. Her hips jutted sharply beneath her weathered coat. Her eyes, once dulled by exhaustion, flickered with uncertainty. For the first time in her life, she was surrounded not by machinery and fences, but by soft earth, open sky, and gentle hands. Slowly, Justice began to heal.

In the months since her rescue, something beautiful — something sacred — has blossomed.
Justice has found an unlikely friend in Beau, a young calf rescued from the veal industry.
Beau never got to know his mother; he was taken from her almost immediately after birth. But when he met Justice, something seemed to awaken in him. He follows her everywhere — to the pasture, to the hay, to the shade beneath the old oak tree. And Justice, who once had every reason to turn away from the world, seems to have decided to love again. She watches over Beau with the tenderness of a mother who understands loss.
Together, they are healing — not just from the cruelty of their pasts, but through the bond they’ve created in sanctuary. Justice now spends her days grazing freely, resting peacefully, and feeling the sun warm her back. Beau curls up beside her, content and safe. Their friendship is a quiet, living reminder of what love can restore.
