Before we could know her… before she could trust…she was gone.
Precious was shy. Who could blame her after the life she’d lived. She hid within the group of 42 others who, like her, had been whisked away from certain death to a place of safety. She had a friend–someone who stayed close to her. They snuggled together for comfort as much as safety. After a few days of observation, we knew Precious didn’t feel well and would likely need medical attention. We moved her to a quieter stall with a few other who also needed a bit more space.
On the day she crossed over, Precious and her friend were close together – always touching, like they drew comfort and strength from each other. Precious wasn’t alone in her final moments. She was with someone who knew her, who loved her, and did the best thing any friend could–stayed with her when things got hard.
This is friendship. This is companionship. This is evidence that Precious had a life, a heart, a spirit. Even if we’ll never get to see it.
She was seen. She was known. She was loved.
