Lucy Lou Goosey was rescued from a river by a kind couple back in 2012. She had injured her wing in the early winter and they knew she needed help before it got worse. With the help of a veterinarian, it was determined that Lucy would not be able to fly again until the next spring so the couple provided shelter for Lucy for those months of healing. Unfortunately, when the spring arrived, Lucy could not fly, and the likelihood of ever flying again was very small.
Recognizing that the goose needed feathered friends and space outdoors, the couple brought her to the sanctuary with hopes of creating a new and fulfilling life for her with a flock of her own.
At that time there was a flock of motherless ducklings and Lucy gladly helped raise them. Since that time, Lucy Lou has developed close relationships with many ducks and geese, and she is the strong leader of her flock.
