Blue was born from Ming Nau, one of four pigs that were rescued from a dark, dangerous, and dirty barn in 2008. They were left without food or water, so in desperation, many of the pigs turned on each other. A humane police officer was able to get a court order to seize all 55 pigs kept in the barn.
Fortunately, we were able to step in to support the police officer, who did not have experience moving farm animals. We coordinated trailers and volunteers, helped her seek adoptive homes, and took the four in the worst shape home to the sanctuary– Blue was one of them, along with her sister Isis and brothers, Blackie and Agnes.
We named her Blue because of her beautiful blue eyes. Today she can be found roaming around the pasture with Blackie, Isis, and Wendell. She enjoys wallowing in the mud, eating fresh produce treats (she always leaves the broccoli for last), and rooting around for leftover treats.
Blue would love for you to join her Circle of Compassion.
You can join it by sponsoring her with a monthly donation of any amount.
