Ayla continues to improve! She was able to walk a bit on her own today. She’s still a bit unsteady but we are hoping that as she gains strength, she’ll be home at Indraloka by Friday. Her toxemia is completely resolved and the babies are doing well. Your incredible support has meant so much–thank you for caring for her as much as we do.

Ayla is continuing to improve! Our good friends at Quakertown Veterinary Clinic are treating her with lots of physical therapy and she is getting her strength & coordination back, slowly but steadily. She’s getting help standing & walking and we’re hopeful that she’ll be able to stand up on her own very soon. And with proper nutrition, her pregnancy toxemia has resolved as well. Thank you to everyone who has supported her–we appreciate you!
We’re nearly to our match! You can donate to Ayla’s care here.

Just two days ago, we were notified of a goat in desperate need of help. Alone in the cold, she appeared dangerously thin, unable to stand, and possibly pregnant. She was brought immediately to the NEPA Rescue Veterinary Clinic to be assessed by Dr. Interlandi and her team. What we found was unconscionable—clear signs of severe neglect.
Her hooves were so overgrown, every time she tried to stand, she would collapse. With severe hoof rot in all four hooves, we knew she was in pain. And we don’t know how long she was out in the cold.
But still, as soon as we got her inside and lying comfortably on a soft blanket, she seemed to know she was safe, eating from our hands and accepting affection. Already, we are in love and doing all we can for her.
She appears to be in the late stages of pregnancy, with one or possibly two babies on the way at any moment. We can keep her comfortable, warm, and fed, but she does need significant medical attention. She’s infested with fleas, ticks, and worms. She has a slight fever and is in a lot of pain. We’re being cautions with medication—giving her only those that are safe for her baby. More effective medications we would normally start her on right away must be postponed until the babies come. Right now, we’ve made up a “labor room” for her in the clinic with soft lighting, relaxing music, water, and healthy treats—all in an effort to keep her comfortable and feeling safe.
Friends, this momma needs all our prayers and good thoughts. We don’t know how long it will take for her babies to come or how long we’ll have to wait to give her the medication she desperately needs. Your support of the Emergency Rescue Fund will help ensure we can continue to be with her every moment, giving her the best possible care. Thank you for all you’ve done to support rescues in the past—your support has helped babies like Duncky and Dory, Loni and Mak, Beau and Bear; and moms like Ramona, Serendipity and Eity. Your gift today will help this mom and her babies with whatever they need. Thank you!

We’re calling her Ayla, which is Turkish for Halo of Light
