When Peaches first arrived at Indraloka, she was silent. She didn’t move, didn’t eat, didn’t even try to stand. Her tiny body trembled with exhaustion and fear. She was still just a baby—too young to understand what had happened, but old enough to know that the world had not been kind.
Peaches was one of ten young chickens rescued this year from the Kaporos ritual.
Like so many others used in this practice, she had been confined in a crate without food, water, or shelter for days. By the time she was brought to safety, her legs were too weak to hold her up, and her spirit seemed almost gone.
Thanks to your support of Indraloka’s Emergency Rescue Fund, Peaches received the intensive veterinary care she so desperately needed.
Warm compresses eased her stiff joints. Specially prepared food coaxed her appetite back, bite by bite. Volunteers spoke softly to her, reminding her that she was safe, that hands could be kind. And slowly—miraculously—Peaches began to respond.
One morning, she stretched her neck toward the light and took a wobbly step. Then another. Within weeks, she was standing tall on her own, eating eagerly, and chirping for attention. The frightened, fragile chick who once lay motionless now greets her caregivers with bright eyes and joyful curiosity.
Peaches’ story is a testament to resilience—the kind that blooms when fear is met with love.
At Indraloka, we see this transformation every day: suffering giving way to peace, loneliness replaced by trust.
To everyone who contributes to our Emergency Rescue Fund: thank you. Your compassion turns fear into hope, pain into healing, and despair into life. Because of you, little souls like Peaches get their second chance at joy.
