Charismatic, quiet, and profoundly sensitive—alpacas are known for their gentle nature.
But for Tikvah and Elisheva, peace was a distant dream. Emaciated, neglected, and suffering, they endured unimaginable hardship until a desperate call for help set their rescue into motion. When we heard about their situation, we didn’t hesitate. Their ribs protruded from their frail bodies, hooves painfully overgrown, burrs tangled in their matted fleece, these elderly alpacas were in shockingly neglectful condition.
Dangerously thin, and with spring temperatures often still chilly, Tikvah and Elisheva need a little extra help staying warm.
They had to be sheared early to remove the mats and check for other injuries so they’re wearing coats until it’s warmer.
They explored their new home, munched on clean hay and treats.
Now safe forever, these 2 will soon find a permanent home in Duncan’s barn.
